AT our first meeting of 2006 the speaker was Judy Berrow and her talk was entitled Starting from Scratch.
With the aid of an accompanying slide show she took us through the whole process of buying up a dilapidated listed tythe-barn with outbuildings plus a considerable amount of land and successfully creating a beautiful house and garden. A truly daunting undertaking which Judy obviously relished.
Judy belongs to the National Gardens Scheme and opens her garden to the public once a year in order to raise money for charity. This year it is open on June 25.
Following a question and answer session, the evening ended with the raffle, coffee and biscuits.
Our next meeting will be at the Friends Meeting House, Sandhills Road, on Thursday, March 9, at 8pm and the speaker will be Peter Preece talking about wildlife photography. New members and visitors always welcome.
