HAVING read the letter from Nick Bowler, (Advertiser, February 22), I would like to add that Wirehill Wood walkers have used the Rockford Close path, now closed by Redditch Council, for more than 20 years.

This is the second route into the woods that residents have lost.

The remaining entrance into the woods was declared dangerous only one week after the council carried out work to erect a boundary fence.

The entrance has since had to be moved and reconstructed at council taxpayers' expense. This shows a lack of planning and foresight.

The council's landscaping department has been installing horrendous turnstile type gates at entry points to what is a wonderful local amenity.

While I fully accept the need to keep users safe by stopping the ingress of motorbikes and bikes, this has also made it difficult for anyone with more than one leaded dog or toddler in a pushchair to gain entry.
