AN Alvechurch woman was the target of a postal scam.
She was sent a letter, claiming to be from Hong Kong, telling her she had come into money but would need to provide her bank details in order to claim it.
She was suspicious so contacted the police and they advised her it was a scam.
A woman in Bewdley received a similar letter and police are now renewing their warning for householders to be aware of postal scams.
A force spokesman said: "There are numerous scams, some of which are convincing, and people do need to be on their guard.
"Anyone who receives an e-mail or letter asking for their bank details or saying they have won prizes or been left money is urged to delete it or bin it immediately.
"No-one should be tempted to ring phone numbers and they should remember that if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is."
