A SECONDARY school is offering acupuncture to students stressed out by exams.
Pupils at Stanchester Community School in Somerset, are being offered the ancient therapy after a teacher went to China to train as an acupuncturist.
Special needs teacher Heather Rabone spent three months learning about the treatment, then offered to use it on pupils at the state school.
Headteacher Glyn Ottery said acupuncture was offered to eight children at the school who were stressed about exams or suffering from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Mr Ottery said: "Mrs Rabone spent three months in China studying acupuncture and when she came back to the school she said 'maybe we could do this on some of the kids'."
Mr Ottery said it took some time to convince Somerset County Council for permission, but eventually students began treatment in November.
