NORTH Midlands trio Tim Streather, Michael Penn and Charlie Fellows took their chance to impress the England Under 18 selectors as the Midlands defeated the North 36-15 in their final divisional match of the season at Castlecroft in Wolverhampton.
Fly-half Streather (Chase HS, Malvern and Worcestershire), who has already been promoted to the England Under 18 training squad this season, set the Midlands on course for victory by scoring their opening try and adding three conversions. Winger Jeff Gregson (Warwickshire) and centre Will Bradley (NL&D) scored the Midlands' other first-half tries.
Penn (Bromsgrove School and Worcestershire) came on as a second-half replacement and crossed for a try as did Fellows (King's School, Worcester and Worcestershire) with Streather converting Fellows' try and adding a penalty to take his personal haul for the match to 16 points.
n North Midlands' RFU National Under 20 Championship match against Notts, Lincs & Derbyshire at Nottingham, which was scheduled for yesterday, was postponed for the second time in three weeks.
The initial fixture earlier this month was postponed at the request of NL&D who had difficulties in raising a side.
The rearranged match was postponed at the request of North Midlands after a number of players sustained injuries playing for their clubs on Sunday, leaving only 14 fit players from the selected squad.
North Midlands' take on Oxford University at Moseley on Sunday.
Attempts will be made to rearrange the NL&D game after that match has been played.
