VANDALS are making the life of a city pensioner a misery by continuously knocking down his wall.

John Georgeovich's property, off London Road has been attacked twice in one week and four times in just one year.

Heavy brick pillars and wooden slats have been knocked into his garden and the street.

The 76-year-old, who lives with his wife, 73-year-old Catherine, said that he felt it was pointless trying to make improvements to his home, because vandals would strike again.

"It makes me feel quite depressed," he said. "It's making more work for me.

Mr Georgeovich, who has lived in his home for about 36 years said that the neighbourhood was constantly subjected to noise in the early hours of the morning.

"It's like a motorway down here," he said.

His son, Daniel, who has been staying with his parents while he recovers from a lung infection, said that the noise caused by drunken yobs and screeching car tyres was preventing his recovery.

"It's definitely having an effect on my health because I'm hardly getting any sleep," said the 54-year-old.

"By the time you get to sleep you are woken by cars screeching as they race along the street, shouting and cans being thrown against the wall."

He said that the situation had become worse for his parents in the last 10 years.

He said that a visitor to his parents home once had their car window smashed and laptop computer stolen, just five minutes after arriving.
