SIR - Why don't the city chiefs and the police put an end to the weekly menace of car drivers driving through the main shopping streets of Worcester on Sundays.
If they don't, I fear a fatal accident could be featuring in your newspaper soon.
New regulations brought in last summer restrict cars from using the streets between 10.30am and 4.30pm, but my walk today saw the law being openly flouted by all and sundry.
Pedestrians are not expecting to confront cars between these times and it really is an accident waiting to happen. I counted 10 cars driving into the restricted zone in just 5 minutes - that means that over 100 cars an hour are breaking the law and endangering lives.
The regulations are even being broken by taxi drivers, who really ought to know better, to now regularly enter the restricted zone via the open market area to queue up to enter the taxi rank.
If the council can take the time and energy to catch "speeders" on City Walls Rd why aren't they using the same enthusiasm to catch these dangerous drivers too.
Get on with it now, before someone is killed.
Bryan Bannister,
Droitwich.
