RUTHLESS Roy Rencher has released Neil Mogford following the defender's calamitous efforts that cost Stourport Swifts two crucial points at Willenhall Town.

Ex-Archdales '73 player Mogford was held responsible for Willenhall's last two goals as Swifts tossed away a 4-2 lead last Saturday.

He conceded a penalty and, in the last minute of the Southern League Division One West game, sent a poor header into the path of Town striker Dean Perrow, who equalised with a fine lob.

Swifts -- boxed in the relegation zone -- cannot afford to fritter away more points whey they entertain Swindon Supermarine at Walshes Meadow tomorrow (3pm).

Boss Rencher was understandably dismayed that his side failed to cling on to victory.

"As far as I'm concerned, that game was won," said Rencher. "We were in heaven until two schoolboy errors cost us the game. They were just inexplicable mistakes from Neil. It was definitely a penalty and then, from a ball down the middle, the ball bounced from his head to Perrow.

"I was livid afterwards and Neil had a bit of a rant back. Unfortunately, he isn't good enough at this level and we've had to release him."

Former Tipton Town defender Linton Bailey made his debut in a new three-man rearguard, although he lacked full fitness and may be relegated to the bench tomorrow. Craig Jenkins returns from a virus, while Rencher hopes to secure Tipton winger Nicky Turton ahead of Swindon's visit.

Rencher added: "Supermarine are on a bit of a nosedive, so it looks a good time to catch them.

"I'm still confident we can avoid relegation, because not a single team can dominate us any more, unlike when I first came.

"There are 39 points to play for and I believe 15 points will keep us up."
