RUNNERS from Malvern featured at the head of the action in Sunday's Muddy Woody six-mile race near Hereford.
It was the Hereford Couriers duo of Tim Clarke and Matt James that set the pace for the 300 plus field to take first and second in 45.22 and 45.49 respectively.
Not far behind were Jon Newey (Malvern Joggers) and Malvern's Matt Scriven and Stuart Bellamy (both Mercia Fell Runners). These three battled it out for the first three miles until Scriven put in a burst of speed on a climb to pull away and his 47.45 earned him fifth place.
Newey managed to leave Bellamy behind in the last mile and clocked in with 48.13 for 8th place with Bellamy 20 seconds back in 9th place. Malvern Joggers' Tom Sharpe finished in 35th place (54.55) with Andy Milton in 43rd place (56.41).
