A PROJECT being run in Worcester for parents aimed at reducing the amount of nappies thrown into landfill sites by converting them to using 'real', or fabric, nappies has proved a success.
Worcestershire County Council has been running Nappaccino mornings for up to 20 parents and now aims to extend the sessions to other parts of the of the county in April.
Liz Fleming, of Powderham Road, Warndon Villages, is one mum who went along to a session and was converted.
She said she used to put disposable nappies on her eldest daughter Chloe, aged five, but after going to a Nappaccino morning, her four-month daughter Alicia wears real nappies.
The 39-year-old said: "Real nappies are less daunting than you think. By going to a Nappaccino morning you can see the different types and talk to people who know about them.
"They are a lot of myths about real nappies, like they leak."
As well as cutting household rubbish, using real nappies can also save families up to £500 a year.
The next Nappaccino morning is being held on Tuesday, March 14, between 10am and noon at Wildwood, opposite the Countryside Centre, off Spetchley Road, Worcester.
