MICKLETON SOCIETY: Eddie Futers addressed the Mickleton Society at the February meeting, his subject being Glass Engraving. A native of Northumberland, Eddie worked in the construction industry for many years, taking up glass engraving initially as a hobby. Now he carries out many commissions, especially locally.
Chairman Paul Johnson proposed the vote of thanks. Secretary Brian Crangle updated the meeting on the progress of the Rural Training Project that the Mickleton Society is sponsoring, with funding from the Ernest Cook Trust. Pupils from Chipping Campden Secondary School are currently receiving rural craft training and work experience at a wood near Gloucester. Later they will be helping to install boundary fence panels, hedging and carved bollards at the new Mickleton Primary School and they will be organising a rural crafts fair at Chipping Campden School in July.
