WOMEN'S WORLD DAY OF PRAYER: On March 3 more than three million people worldwide will be taking part in the Day of Prayer Service prepared, this year, by women of South Africa on the theme of Signs of the Times. In Harvington, it is the turn of the Baptist church to house the meeting, at 6pm on Friday, March 3 and men as well as women are welcome. Speaker will be the Rev Fran Battin. Afterwards, there will be refreshments and a discussion.
AID TO AFRICA: Daniel Clements who, with his coffee morning before Christmas, began the task of raising £900 to cover his expenses for a two-week visit to Uganda, is again asking for help. His intention is to work in the Kamazinda Children's Village, a community which cares for children who have been orphaned by Aids. His plan is to do a sponsored 24-hour fast starting at 9pm on March 2 and finishing at 9pm on March 3. Anyone who would like to support Daniel can collect a sponsorship form from the post office or ring Daniel on 870693.
SHROVE TUESDAY: Pancakes will be on sale in St James' Church at the yearly pancake supper, starting on Tuesday at 6pm. The members of the church's social committee were kept busy last year serving customers and they hope to repeat that this year, with all proceeds going to the Children's Society.
DROP-IN DAY: The village hall will be open on Saturday between 9am and 3.30pm for people to give their views on the future of Harvington as it will be forecast in the Village Plan and Design Statement.
