WYRE Forest Swimming Club came last in the second round of the Worcester Winter League at Halesowen after a shortage of 15-year-old swimmers led to some youngsters competing above their age-groups.
Despite the team's disappointing performance, 11-year-old Eliza Bradley overcame a viral infection to win the 11/under one-length butterfly and breaststroke events after retiring from the 13-and-under butterfly.
And junior coach Lucy Walters had to don her costume and step into the breach to stand in for another ailing swimmer Sian Griffiths.
The team still managed to gain 21 personal bests from the competition.
Rob Smith added three new pbs to his collection during a fine individual display from the 14-year-old.
Round two placings: 1 Stourbridge 169 points, 2 Bromsgrove 160, 3 Halesowen 158, 4 Haden Hill 142, 5 Perry Beeches/SSS B 106, 6 Wyre Forest 102.
