A RETIRED Kidderminster teacher and former Hartlebury parish councillor has died, aged 92, a year after moving to Hampshire.
Mrs Grace Gethin, generally known by the lifelong nickname of Pie, was games mistress at Kidderminster High School from 1937 to 1973 and was associated with several county sports organisations.
She was a former president and captain of Kidderminster Ladies Hockey Club during a 43-year period. with the club.
She was also president of Worcestershire Schools Hockey Association and Worcestershire Women's Hockey Association in the 1970s.
Mrs Gethin had spells as ladies captain of Stourport and Bewdley tennis clubs and was president of Hartlebury Women's Institute for four years. She was a member of Hartlebury Parish Council from 1981 to 1991.
Mrs Gethin, widow of Basil Gethin, moved to Romsey last year to be closer to her family.
A memorial service will be held in St James's Church, Hartlebury, on Friday, April 7 at 2.30pm.
