STOURPORT'S shock 18-10 defeat at Bromsgrove Civil Service has blown the North Midlands Division Two South title race wide open - with local rivals Chaddesley Corbett hoping to capitalise.

The Walshes Meadow men were expected to waltz towards championship glory after remaining unbeaten since the start of the season.

But last Saturday's setback has left them just four points ahead of Chaddesley with the two teams still to play their re-arranged derby.

In fairness to Stourport, their first defeat was a nip and tuck tussle that could have gone either way.

They led 10-8 with 10 minutes to play after a Lee Philps try and Richard Dorrell's penalty and conversion.

Birmingham edged one point in front with a late penalty and with Stourport throwing everything into attack, the home side sealed their win with a converted try.

Stourport seconds ran in eight tries as they breezed past Upton 48-5.

There were braces from Ed Osborn and Matt Hipkiss while Adam Wyton, Kris Holy, Craig Bayliss and Stu Wilson also scored.

Wilson kicked three conversions and Steve Griffin added another.
