BULLYING on school buses and help for children whose parents are divorcing were two of the issues identified by youngsters in Broadway and Cropthorne during two recent consultation meetings.

The meetings were organised by Councillor Liz Eyre, Worcestershire County Council's cabinet member for children and young people.

She later described the meetings as "a great success" with high turnouts at both and said a lot of issues brought to light that may well have been missed if not for the forum.

All the information gained in the past few weeks will now be fed into a Children and Young People's Strategic Plan, which when completed, will hope to lead to real improvements for individuals and groups all over Worcestershire.

Cllr Eyre said: "Both the consultation meetings went extremely well and the material we received was brilliant. There were some things we expected to come up but there were also a lot of issues that we hadn't even thought about. Everyone who attended the meetings was so positive and it was great to see key members of the community in relation to children and young people attended."

Some of the matters raised at the meetings included bullying on school buses and the need for a contact place for children and families going through a divorce.

Charlton's youngsters wanted to see a new play area built in their village while skate parks and better access to sport were among the suggestions in Broadway. No date has been set for producing the strategic plan.
