ENTHUSIASTIC teachers and exemplary pupils have contributed to a stunning inspection report for a Worcestershire school.

Sytchampton Endowed First School, near Stourport-on-Severn, was judged outstanding in every single category, including the quality of teaching and the standard of care given to children.

A report on the inspection, by the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted), said: "Pupils receive an extremely rich curriculum, excellent teaching, and very high quality care, support and guidance.

"Leadership and management are outstanding and teamwork is exceptional. As a result, overall achievement is very good in their academic work and personal development."

Headteacher Cynthia Evans said the whole school had worked extremely hard to achieve the high standards Ofsted had recognised.

She said: "I am thrilled with our results and could not be prouder of our school community - the success is a joint effort between staff, governors, parents and children and is a huge morale boost for us all. To celebrate the success, the whole school was treated with a trip to the cinema to see the film Chicken Little."

Pupils' attitudes were described as "exemplary," and their behaviour and attendance, "outstanding".

The report said: "Teachers communicate tremendous enthusiasm for what they are teaching. This is infectious and results in pupils who love learning and are highly stimulated by what they experience."

The school, which caters for children between the ages of five and nine, attracts pupils from a wide range of different backgrounds.

The school's success is particularly noteworthy because a significant number of pupils have English as a second language.
