HUNDREDS of performers from across the Midlands showed off their talent at the annual Wyre Forest Dance Festival.

Dancers entertained the audience for six days with routines in various styles from ballet and classical to tap and modern at Stourport Civic Hall.

Severnside School of Dance, Step by Step Dance Studio and Splinters Dance Studio, all based in Wyre Forest, were among the schools that took part in the event.

On the final day, adjudicator, Jurek Sroka, invited dancers who had performed earlier in the week to take part in the festival championships.

The junior section for seven to 10-year-olds was won by Chloe Barratt, from Cannock Academy. Edward Paisley and Amber Morris, both from Academy Dance in Worcester, were second and third.

In the intermediate championship, for 11 to 14-year-olds, Ellis Morgan, from Livingston Academy, finished in first place, Sam Wall from Splinters Dance Studio was second and Sophie Jo Lusted, of Academy Dance, was awarded third place.

Kidderminster dancers, Nick Swift and Scott Mobley, of Splinters Dance Studio, walked away with second and third place, respectively, in the senior championship for 15 to 21-year-olds, which was won by Vikky Todd, from Academy Dance.

Amy Smith, leisure development officer at Wyre Forest District Council, which organised the event, said: "It was a great success. We had over 900 competitors. We were really pleased with how it went this year.

"Everybody said how well it went and how friendly the atmosphere was. It was great to see the support from the parents and sponsors. We will definitely be continuing it next year
