THE closure of Tenbury's Market Square toilets loomed even closer after councillors recommended the move on Tuesday night.
Members of Malvern Hills District Council's executive committee supported shutting the toilets by four votes to two and the proposal could become a reality next week when the full council considers the recommendation.
Councillor Phil Grove said: "It does not look good but there is another opportunity to save the toilets on Tuesday."
He added: "They are not trying to give the towns the chance to increase tourism but I will fight on until the day of voting.
"We must try everything."
Coun George Price said he was "extremely disappointed" that the council had not taken local views on board.
"The district council seems to be selective when it comes to listening to local opinion and the views of the town council," he said.
The plans to close the toilets met with fierce opposition from Tenbury Town Council, which joined forces with town councils in Upton and Malvern in a bid to save the public conveniences.
The toilets could be closed by the end of the month if the executive commitee's decision is ratified at next week's full council meeting.
