SIR - I would like to thank the people of Worcestershire who very kindly donated blankets, quilts and warm clothes to my recent appeal.
The response was overwhelming and I can't really find words to express how grateful I am to all those who helped to fill the container.
Maritime Transport Limited have provided free transport of the container from Worcester to the docks. Interfreight Shipping Agencies, Ltd. acted as agents for United Arabic Shipping Co. of Kuwait, who generously provided the container and free freight from London to Karachi.
We do have to pay transportation costs from Karachi to Muzaffarabad but generously members of the four Worcester Rotary Clubs will be helping to pay towards the cost of this transportation.
I would also like to thank the staff at the Guildhall for their help in collecting and storing the items. The items donated will be of great assistance to the people caught up in this tragedy. I would apologise to those people who have contacted me with further donations of clothing, etc., and I hope to arrange for a further container to be sent to Pakistan in the near future.
I would also like to thank the people who have made donations to the Worcester Pakistan Partnership which will be put towards the rebuilding of two schools in Pakistan.
Once again, my sincere thanks to everyone.
Coun Allah Ditta
Worcester
