Sir - I am sure George Cowley or another of your distinguished readers - and believers - will wish to spring to the defence of the Bishop of Worcester following John Phillpott's intemperate and ill-judged attack on him (WN, Saturday, Feb 18).
Phillpott's main objection to the Bishop seems to be that he actually thinks, talks and acts like a Christian.
I was always given to understand that this meant somebody who was regarded as a decent, respectable, kindly and charitably minded sort of person - a description that could hardly be levelled at John Phillpott, as any student of his columns in the Worcester News over the years would be able to testify.
