BROMSGROVE Rovers manager Rod Brown has made a double bid to bolster his midfield after winger Anthony Maguire quit the club for Hednesford Town on Monday.
Brown has put in seven-day requests for former midfield maestro Riad Erraji, who is at Rushall Olympic, and for Shifnal Town wideman Matt Hall.
Brown is down to the bare bones after Maguire could not resist a new offer by the Conference North side, who had originally made a seven-day approach for the winger in January.
Erraji became a firm favourite with the Rovers' faithful last season as he helped the team make it to play-off final in the Southern League Division One West.
However, he fell out of favour with previous manager Jimmy Mullen and decided to move in order to obtain first team football.
Hall played an integral part in Redditch United's promotion winning campaign in the 2003/2004 season.
The winger has dropped down to play for Shifnal Town in the Midland Combination Premier Division but Brown is confident he is capable of playing at a higher level.
He said: "I had Matt at Redditch and he was always a quality player on the wing.
"He would be a good replacement for Anthony Maguire.
"I can't stop a player from moving to a high level. I wish him the best of luck.
"I made a bid for Riad as well. All the fans know what he is capable of and hopefully he will want to come back."
Brown will not be able to speak to either midfielder until Monday, February 27.
The Rovers boss is already looking forward to his side's crucial clash at table topping Clevedon Town on Saturday, February 25.
Brown has warned his team that Clevedon will be thirsty to avenge December's 3-0 defeat.
He said: "Clevedon will be desperate to get some revenge.
"They are a good side and this is another big test for us.
"But I think if we can come away with a point then it will be a good result.
"Once we get Clevedon out of the way I think we have played most of the best sides in the league twice.
"It might give us a chance to go on an unbeaten run and build some momentum."
Defender Steve Hillman and striker Luke Reynolds are set to return to the side after missing the 3-1 win over Cinderford Town on Saturday.
Late goals for Joe Williams and Paul Moore sealed victory.
Brown said: "We missed some chances and I thought we would draw. But we kept on probing and got our reward. We've started scoring goals all of a sudden and that's a pleasing sign.
"Cinderford isn't an easy place to play and this might be a bigger win than many of us realise."
