VOLUNTEERS are being sought to work in shops owned by the British Heart Foundation.

People are being urged to put their spare time to good use by working at one of the charity's six shops which are in the two counties.

Ken Blair, BHF chief executive of shops, said: "Volunteers are absolutely essential to the success of the BHF and play a vital role in raising funds for the charity to help fight heart disease - the UK's single biggest killer.

"BHF shops have recently carried out extensive research across the volunteer network, which revealed that around 96 per cent of volunteers enjoy working at their local BHF shop, with 98 per cent saying that they would recommend it to a friend or relative.

"Most people know someone affected by heart disease and by joining the team of BHF Shop volunteers you can help us really make a difference.

"Without the help from local volunteers BHF shops would not be able to raise the staggering £9m that they do every year."

Volunteers needed for charity shop

A CHARITY shop in Worcester that supports the County Air Ambulance is looking for volunteer staff.

The Daisy Chain Benevolent Fund operates a shop on Bromyard Road, St John's, as well as a bookshop nearby on the St John's road.

Davina Roberts, a Daisy Chain director, said: "We are looking for more people to join our happy team."

She said the shop, on Bromyard Road, was also in need of donations of women's clothing. The Daisy Chain Benevolent Fund is a not-for-profit community fund-raising organisation.
