OUR fans got absolutely no value for money on Saturday -- it was a poor game with very little entertainment on show.

Vauxhall Motors were not interested in entertaining though. They came to St George's Lane for a draw and, to their credit, they got it.

They defended throughout the entire game to frustrate us. That is fair enough, but they will have to attack at some point this season because I don't think draws will keep them up.

This league has shown that if you have a good go at teams, you can win games. Vauxhall may have got three points because, on the odd occasion, they looked quite dangerous and made lively runs.

They beat us last month at their place, so they are a capable side. Having said that, I had an idea that Vauxhall were going to play that way.

Their time-wasting was embarrassing. They tried it from the fifth minute up until the final whistle.

Because of that, there should have been much more stoppage time than a minute.

But the referee did not have a good game. He sent Andy Morrison from the touchline, but I don't know what Jock was meant to do.

Vauxhall's manager went over from his technical box into ours and you are not allowed to do that.

He also denied us a last- minute penalty. Justin Thompson's shot was on target when it struck the defender's arm.

Had the defender's arm been down by his side, then it should not be a penalty. But they were high and wide. Penalties have been given for that.

Players were booked, there were substitutions, plus we had the situation involving Jock. Yet we only had a minute's stoppage time. That just about summed the official up.

What made it difficult breaking down Vauxhall was our pitch. The condition of it is unacceptable and when teams defend their penalty box, you need plenty of luck to get anything.

I've not said anything about the surface all season, but if nothing is said then nothing is done.

We like to get the ball down in the right areas. When we want to drag teams out, it's difficult playing around them because of the pitch. When the ball bobbles about, it is tough.

We passed it around freely against Leigh RMI last Monday, but only once they were demoralised.

It's OK once we break the back of a team but if sides are fighting, it is difficult to draw them out.

I thought it best to bleat and moan about the pitch while we're enjoying good results at home.

We've been unbeaten at home since October. We've won game after game on it and I've still not been happy.

I'm also thinking about our supporters. If fans come through the turnstiles and watch a game like that on a pitch like that, one thing leads to another and they might not come back.

Finally, I was delighted to see Jimmi-Lee Jones at the Vauxhall game out of plaster. That's good news for him and us.

It's been a few months since his bad injury, but he's making good progress.

He must still take it easy, because he's lost a lot of muscle in his thigh. But I look to have him back in preparation for next season.
