TEENAGE sweethearts are set to celebrate 60 years of marriage with family and friends next week.
Edie and Tom Francs first met at school at the age of 14 and have been together ever since.
The caring couple got married at Bromsgrove register office on March 2, 1946, when they were both 19 and Tom had got weekend leave from the Navy during the Second World War.
After they were married Tom went back to the war, but returned 12 months later when the couple moved into their first home together in Stoke Prior, Bromsgrove. They later went on to work together in a small lighting store near to their home. They have a son Melvin and daughter Shirley.
Edie is now at Corbett House Nursing Home, Corbett Avenue, Droitwich Spa, and is visited daily by her husband. Tom even started to drive again so he could visit Edie. The couple will celebrate their big day on Thursday, March 2, with family and friends at the Spa nursing home.
