SIR - Why has dealing with the death of a loved one become so expensive? A recent survey indicated that the national average cost of a funeral had increased during the last five years by 60 per cent to £3,307.
Also, due to soaring house prices, about one third of families of property owners will face another huge bill. Inheritance tax is payable at £275,000. When dealing with bereavement, homeowner families should be able to appreciate the hard work, enterprise and achievements of a loved one and not be penalised for their success.
