I AM dismayed Redditch Council is changing the landscape of the town without due consideration to the needs or preferences of residents.
The council has blocked a popular woodland path leading from Rockford Close, Oakenshaw South, into Wirehill Wood.
A lottery-funded 250ft long fence has been erected without open consultation or prior notification that the works were to take place.
On challenging the council's landscape department to the works carried out, an officer admitted residents had not been consulted but instead, the matter was referred to a resident's group in Wirehill to make planning decisions.
This group has not publicised the works or made itself known to the residents of Oakenshaw South and the council refuses to disclose contact details for the group.
Residents are now left with an unsafe alternative route into the woods from Rockford Close as well as a dead end out of the woods, resulting in Wirehill Wood users having to climb over the fencing.
The Council has failed to put forward a resolution to the matter or even offered to consult Oakenshaw South residents on future green space works in the area.
