PLANS to move Redditch's fire station have been put on hold for the foreseeable future.

A meeting of the Combined Fire Authority last week agreed proposals to move the station to provide better safety cover and to keep the number of fire engines in the town at three, rather than reducing it to two.

But Alec Mackie, of Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, told the Advertiser: "It's been put on hold for the time being.

''It will eventually move but we still have to find a location."

He added it was staying at its Birmingham Road location as of now and more discussions would take place at a later date as part of the formal publication and public consultation of the service's next Integrated Risk Management Plan.
