MALVERN Youth Centre is looking for budding performers to be involved in its theatre projects.

New youth theatre worker Josie Kitchener wants to establish a regular group to devise and perform shows in the centre's own theatre.

"I'm trying to establish a core group that wants to learn and develop new skills and get the chance to show them off," she said. "Anyone with an interest, whether it be singing, dancing or acting should come along."

Miss Kitchener believes many do not realise what the centre has to offer.

"A lot of young people don't know what's available to them so they feel they don't have anywhere to go and end up wandering the streets," she said. "I want to let people know we're here and can offer a lot of fun and some really good opportunities."

Miss Kitchener's role is to assist and advise the youngsters, not tell them what to do.

"They get a huge say in what they want to do," she said. "We're here to help and we've got fantastic facilities and expertise at the centre, but the ideas come from them. This is their youth centre."

The theatre group meets between 6pm and 9pm every Wednesday and Thursday at the Albert Road North centre.

There is no charge and anyone aged 13-19 is welcome to attend. Call 01684 575363 for more details.
