TEN Worcester people are £20 richer after the city council rewarded them for supporting its £25m lottery bid to revamp the waterfront.
The cash would pay for three new bridges, a public square and a lighthouse.
As part of its campaign the council created its own £20 notes with Edward Elgar on the back.
Thousands were distributed around Worcester and many were returned to Guildhall with messages of support. Ten returned cards were drawn from the hat and the winners invited to the Guildhall to meet leader Stephen Inman and chief executive David Wareing.
Each received a real £20 note to keep.
"The £20 note captured people's imagination and we were overwhelmed by the backing," said Coun Inman.
The city will learn next month if its bid has been shortlisted.
