FOR those of your readers keen on playing the lottery, I recommend a try-out with First Great Western Customer Relations.
Following the sudden cancellation of one of their trains to London before Christmas, I wrote a letter claiming recompense for the return car journey to Reading, and the 24-hour car parking fees, which cost me £15.
Since then, I have received no less than three different replies from their customer services.
The first was most apologetic, giving me £37 in rail travel vouchers and a promise of a cheque to cover the parking fees; the second letter effectively told me to get lost; and the third reluctantly gave me £10 in rail travel vouchers.
I am eagerly awaiting more letters, but I regret to say that I am still waiting for the £15 cheque. Ah well!
