May I refer to the Malvern Gazette (February 3) and the article in the sports section headed 'New milestone for youth set-up'.
Regrettably, Malvern Rugby Club's records must have been mislaid because during my time when I was both the club's chairman of youth development and the manager of the North Midlands U/17 squad, a period spanning the four seasons 1997-2001, the milestone just claimed had already been achieved.
Firstly, in the season 1999/2000 Oliver Hambrey, Liam Miller, Daniel Kay and Martin Tilley were all members of my N Mids U/17 squad, to be followed a season later by four more aspiring Malvern U/17 players making the same grade, Tom O'Brien, Richard Fleming, Alistair Hills and Michael Wenden.
Some of these lads went on to play senior club rugby with distinction. The next true milestone will in fact be five selected players and not as just claimed.
Chris Morton, Leigh Sinton.
