THE wheels are in motion to restart a bus service between Cradley and Malvern.

Cradley Parish Council is sending a questionnaire to 700 households in the village asking them what bus service is wanted.

The previous once-weekly bus to Malvern was cancelled last summer because it was not financially viable.

The survey will include questions on what days a bus should run and ticket prices. The council will then try to devise a service to meet people's needs.

This may include applying for funding or working with another group to share a minibus.

Coun Chris Lowder is heading the scheme.

"Funding is going to be a problem," he said. "There are lots of things which money goes to rurally but transport is not one of them."

Cradley residents will also be asked if they are able to help with the scheme in any way.

The questionnaire will be sent out in the next parish newsletter.

Completed questionnaires should be left at Cradley Post Office, the butcher's in Bosbury Road or at the doctor's surgery.

At the same meeting, councillors heard Cradley sports club, which is run on fields at the village primary school, may be getting a radical face-lift at an estimated cost of £0.5 million.

The club will offer sport for the community and also intends to become a centre of excellence for disabled people.

Plans include an all-weather pitch, a clubhouse and a full-size football pitch.

Frank Hare is pioneering the development.

"My objective is to provide a sporting outlet for people, particularly young people, who haven't had the opportunity locally before," he said.

Football, netball and hockey will all be on offer.

The club's first girls' football session will take place on Sunday, February 26, from 9-10am.
