RUSH-HOUR chaos met morning commuters on the main A38 road yesterday when a lorry overturned leaving four men injured.
The four-vehicle pile-up happened close to Webbs of Wychbold garden centre at around 8.20am after the Volvo lorry - carrying road chippings towards Broms-grove - toppled over on to its side.
Fire-crews had to cut the trapped lorry driver free from his cab after a white Mercedes Sprinter van crashed into it. A white Land Rover and a white Volkswagen LT35 van also smashed into the other vehicles, forcing police to shut the road for several hours.
Two men from the lorry and the driver of the Sprinter van were rushed by ambulance to the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch and the driver of the Land Rover was taken to the Princess of Wales Hospital in Broms-grove. All of the men escaped with non life-threatening injuries.
Fire crews from Droitwich Bromsgrove, Redditch and Worcester all raced to the scene and after freeing the lorry driver, cleaned up pools of diesel spilled from the vehicle's tank.
A police spokesman said the force wanted to hear from anyone who saw the crash or any of the vehicles being driven earlier.
Witnesses should call 08457 444888, quoting 134S/160206.
