POWICK climbed to the top of Worcester Sunday League division one with an excellent away win against a strong Prinner side, who had defeated Powick in the reverse fixture.
PRINNER SPORTS 0, POWICK 3
The game was dictated by the home side in the first-half and the Powick defence were continually under pressure. With Powick struggling to keep the ball, Luke Morris and James Biggerstaff both went close. As the half wore on Powick began to claw their way back into the game.
Having survived a sustained period of pressure, Powick came out a different side in the second-half and a tactical switch by manager Mike Burton proved inspirational.
Substitute Stu Fish scored with his first touch following neat approach play by Stu Harvey.
As the game became further stretched, the back four of Hart, Collard, Skilton and Knight coped admirably and sensing victory, Powick began to use the ball more effectively.
With 15 minutes left, a powerful run by Tim Lambeth saw him beat a defender and race 30 yards to smash the ball past the stranded goalkeeper.
With eight minutes left, tireless running by the excellent Gary Henderson saw him brought down by Brett Morris and once again Stu Fish showed confidence in his finishing to make the game safe.
With the last kick of the game, Biggerstaff almost grabbed a consolation but was denied by the outstretched fingertips of Steve Davis.
This was a big three points for Powick and with other results going their way, this could prove to have been a decisive weekend.
