POLICE are appealing for information after a youth dragged an 86-year-old woman along the pavement in an attempt to steal her shopping bag in Kidderminster.
The victim was walking down Hurcott Road, near the junction with Gheluvelt Avenue, at around 11.30am on Monday when the youth approached her from behind.
He grabbed the bag and dragged the victim for about eight paces. She screamed for help, however, and refused to let go. The youth released his hold on the bag and ran off towards Baxter Gardens.
The victim fell to the floor, sustaining a bump to her face and knee. She was shaken but did not need hospital treatment. Nothing was stolen.
The youth was described as white, in his mid to late teens, 6ft tall, of muscular build. He was wearing a waist-length, light blue zip-up jacket, dark trousers and a light blue and beige beenie hat.
Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to call 08457 444888 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
