A BROADWAY councillor was delighted to learn that after a recent review by Hereford and Worcestershire Fire Authority the village fire station will remain where it is.
Broadway county councillor Liz Eyre said: "This is more than a really important community facility, retained officers are, in my book, often unsung heroes of local communities and those they serve.
"They know the area, they are quick to respond and increasingly help in a variety of preventative ways."
Officers who undertook the review for the fire authority at the end of last year decided against moving or closing Broadway's fire station.
Cllr Eyre who worked on the Combined Fire Authority said it made her aware of the complexity of providing a comprehensive and responsive service.
As part of the review, fire officers have been told they can keep their mobile unit in Broadway which is used for washing and changing.
The unit will be screened by hedging with planting due to start in spring.
