FROM the dizzy heights of involvement in four knockout competitions at the start of the year, the Midland Combination Challenge Cup is all that is left for Feckenham after last-gasp heartache in the Worcestershire Senior Urn.
The Millers more than held their own last week against a Worcester City Reserve side featuring first team regulars Leon Kelly and Jai Stanley.
But they were finally beaten by an injury time goal described as 'freakish' by Feckenham manager Lee Adams.
"It wasn't a great game but we just about edged it and didn't deserve to lose like that," he explained after the last gasp winner had cancelled out Steve Fergusson's earlier equaliser.
But there was better news at the weekend with Feckenham polishing off Division One underdogs Handsworth United 3-1 in the fourth round of the Challenge Cup.
Scott Walsh, Ryan Field and Stuart Douglas did the damage against a side labelled 'probably the worst we've played this season' by Adams.
Victory earned the Millers the mixed blessing of a quarter-final away to Coventry Sphinx on Tuesday (ko 7.45pm) - a side who have beaten Adams' outfit twice in recent weeks.
But the manager insists his thoughts are concentrated on the visit of Nuneaton Griffs in the league on Saturday (ko 2.45pm).
And Adams is hoping to sign former Alvechurch sweeper Ross Knight from Division Two side Cadbury Athletic Reserves in time to figure at the weekend and, he hopes, become eligible for the Sphinx tie.
Brothers Richard and Andy Biddle, cup tied for the last two games, are unavailable on Saturday and will have to watch from the stands next week as their team mates bid to secure a two-legged Challenge Cup semi-final against Pershore Town.
