TWO Worcester runners took the senior honours at the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Schools' Athletic Association Cross-country Championships.

The city won the under 19s boys' and girls' team titles in the event at Bredon School with Sam Mitchell and Sarah Waldron leading the way.

Waldron, a Worcester Sixth College student who is racking up a string of athletics achievements, claimed the girls' gold medal.

Worcester College of Technology's Sam Mitchell did likewise in the boys' event.

Laura Baldwin, of Baxter College, Kidderminster, Marietta Kirkbride, of St James', Malvern, Dan Klaiber, of Prince Henry's High School, Evesham, and Christian Booker, of South Bromsgrove High School, were the other winning runners.
