IT was a disappointing Valentine's Day for a Worcestershire couple yesterday after they narrowly missed out on a chance to experience the wedding of a lifetime.
Daniel Gillett, aged 27, and Sarah Jameson, 31, were one of three couples to reach the finals of a radio competition to win a £20,000 wedding with all the trimmings.
But after a public vote, it was announced they had not clocked up enough e-mails and texts through Heart FM to receive the big day - which included a designer wedding dress, honeymoon in Dubai, celebrity entertainment and rings.
This is the second time the couple, of Cornmeadow Lane, Claines, have had their chance to tie the knot snatched away from them at the 11th hour.
Their first attempt in Cancun, Mexico, was abandoned as Hurricane Wilma ripped through their resort.
The wedding party, including Daniel and Sarah's toddler Ryan, were caught in terrifying floods and had to shelter in a school for days without food and water.
But Daniel said, although he and his fiance were disappointed, they were optimistic.
He said: "All is not lost, we didn't gain anything but we didn't lose anything either and nothing would compare to the nightmare that was Mexico.
"You have to think, 'you win some, you lose some' and we are now planning a wedding in the Dominican Republic in February. Let's hope that will be third time lucky."
