THREE restaurants in Worcester have received praise from the most important critics - the public.
Angel Chef, in Angel Street, Brown's, in Quay Street, and the Glass House, in Church Street, all appear in the 2006 edition of Harden's UK Restaurants - described as a restaurant-lovers bible.
The guide is compiled by asking members of the public to write the reviews rather than professional restaurant critics.
The Glass House is credited as being atmospheric and the guide awarded the standard of food served at the restaurant one star, which is defined as very good.
The guide goes on to say "Good food and cheerful service make this intriguingly-housed city centre restaurant well worth knowing about."
The restaurant's manager, Jacky Hughes, said: "It's no good having good food without good service or the other way round - you need to have both.
"We are very pleased to have a mention in Harden's because this is the one that the reviews are done by the public."
Richard Hill, manager of Brown's, said the restaurant's success is down to being established and having a long history of providing quality food.
He said: "We have been here in Worcester for over 25 years. We have a lot of regular customers.
"The food we serve is traditional British food with quite a big French influence."
The guide says Brown's won solid approval ratings for its good all-round standards.
The Angel Chef is described as an exciting destination and it hailed for its huge choice of great value fare.
However, no one from the restaurant was available to speak to the Worcester News.
