A FED up Bromsgrove resident is in the dark over constant complaints about broken street lighting.
Simon Ward, from Crown Close, has been trying to get bulbs replaced in two of the eight new Victorian gas lantern style columns near his home since last October.
But despite repeated attempts, they still have not been fixed by Bromsgrove District Council.
"Without those two lights the area is pitch black and it is very dangerous for residents walking and it also encourages youths to hang around," said Simon.
"Amphlett Memorial Hall is nearby and there are a lot of old people who go there, but there is inadequate lighting for them."
Simon said he had sent various emails and had various conversations with council officials, but still the lights are not working.
His latest correspondence was on December 23 when he received an email from the council's transport and engineering officer Steve Martin.
Mr Martin said that although the council was responsible for the lighting columns it did not maintain lighting fixtures and fittings itself. He said he would arrange for contractors to maintain the lights shortly.
Simon added: "Something needs to be done about this, but no-one seems to be helping us by sorting the problem out."
A spokesman for Bromsgrove District Council apologised that it had been unable to get the work done earlier, but said it is due to be carried out this week.
