AN animal charity is appealing for help after three rabbits were dumped in a Bromsgrove road.

The young animals were found in Old Burcot Lane, Bromsgrove. They had managed to escape from the boxes in which they had been dumped and were running around close to the entrance of a nearby field.

Beside the rabbits, who were discovered in January, were two Stella beer boxes filled with shredded paper.

The RSPCA said the rabbits - two female and one male - were all in good condition so appear to have been well looked after before being dumped. None of them were neutered and they are all white in colour with one having tan markings.

RSPCA inspector Gemma Cox said: "It doesn't make sense why someone would dump their pets and leave them for dead. They were found in a quiet area so it was lucky that someone came across them when they did.

"Pet owners must be made aware that it is a criminal offence to abandon an animal in a manner likely to cause suffering and there are options out there for anyone struggling to cope."

She added: "We take the matter of abandoned animals very seriously and I would urge anyone with information to please contact me."

Anyone with details of the dumping should call 0870 55 55 999. The rabbits are being cared for by the Worcester branch of the RSPCA, which is currently inundated with bunnies. Anyone who can offer a home should contact 01905 841354.

Five baby white rabbits have also been rescued from a hedgerow in Ladywood by Steph Prew. She says they were dumped on Sunday by 'an evil lady in a red car.' They are now being cared for by one of her neighbours.
