THE evening opened as usual with the singing of Jerusalem.
Minutes were read and approved. Details were given of correspondence received, especially the proposed new WI magazine.
The competition for the group meeting will be an Arabian tile design in any medium. Ann Thurrell attended Hopwood Village Hall Committee on our behalf and reported that repairs to the leaking roof were in hand, after which essential refurbishments would be completed.
The skittles team have has mixed results so far this season. The luncheon club had enjoyed last month's visit to the cinema. The date for the next lunch will be February 16.
Guest speaker was Georgia Jacobs, president of Beoley WI but wearing her geologist's hat (literally!) for her talk on minerals, rocks and gemstones.
Her talk on rock formations was very informative and illustrated with slides explaining all in detail. In future we will visit coastal and rocky areas, appreciating and knowing so much more about different type of rock.
Georgia had a wonderful display of all types of rocks and gemstones for us to examine and even prepared a quiz which all made for a really interesting evening.
Next month we meet on March 2 for a talk about computers in Tanzania.
