Bromsgrove Blaze U18s 84 Ilkeston U18s 72
BASKETBALL: Bromsgrove Blaze recorded their first win in the National League by getting the better of Ilkeston.
Blaze recovered from a fine start by Ilkeston in the first quarter and strong play by Andy Barker and Dan Knight made sure they took a point lead into the second quarter.
The scores were also level in the second period, but with a minute to go Guy Morris's aggressive play made sure they took a 41-37 lead into half time.
Bromsgrove started the third quarter in rip-roaring form, scoring 14 unanswered points in a row. Luke Coffey and Adam Beaument also scored as Bromsgrove streaked into a 63-48 point lead.
In the final quarter Bromsgrove had to weather an Ilkeston fightback.
Their rivals got within eight points of Blaze, before free throws by Morris and Barker finally ended Bromsgrove's season long wait for a win.
