THE future of car production at Longbridge remains uncertain as Chinese car giants Nanjing were given more time to firm up plans for the site this week.
The owner of the MG Rover site, St Modwen Properties, is expected to allow Nanjing to sign a short-term extension to its current licence, which runs out next Wednesday.
The deal would give the car maker more time to firm up plans to use part of the site before committing to a 35-year contract.
Nanjing bought MG Rover for about £50 million last year and it is thought it needs 100 acres to restart production of MG sports cars.
