BROMSGROVE'S search for their first league win of the season continues after they went down 19-17 against local rivals Luctonians.
A lively start by Bromsgrove counted for little as the Luctonians back-row turned over the ball in the middle of the pitch. Some swift handling resulted in Ricky Henagi being able to put a kick through from the left wing to gather it up himself and score near the posts. Jeremey Wheadon converted.
Bromsgrove fought back well and some great forward pressure saw Dan Shakespere crash over the line from five yards out and Kent Somerville added the extra two points.
The first-half finished with Somerville and Wheadon exchanging penalties, making the half-time score 10-10.
The second-half started well for Luctonians and the pressure told when they were awarded a penalty which Wheadon duly dispatched.
But Bromsgrove dominated the next 20 minutes and they were rewarded when Nick Durston got a try, which Somerville converted.
Luctonians piled on the pressure and, with 10 minutes remaining, Wheaton scored the penalty that put them within a point of the hosts.
With only seconds left on the clock, Lucs pressure on the line-out forced a penalty and Wheadon continued his faultless display of kicking to give Lucs a narrow win.
