DROITWICH'S poor run of results continued on Saturday when they went down 17-14 to Stourbridge Lions despite one of their best performances of the season.
A long injury list meant recalls for veteran back-row forward Jon Andrews and the evergreen Rich Pedley to the front row.
Droitwich started slowly and found themselves 12-0 down and with a mountain to climb but inspirational skipper Nick Godfrey rallied his troops and found great support from the tireless Pedley and livewire backs Leon Hopkins and Chris Hooper.
Good work by Paul Sweeney allowed Hopkins, playing in the unfamiliar position of centre, to break free to score, with Hooper converting.
Godfrey then dived over from short-range and Hooper again converted.
The last few minutes saw the home side pound the Spa line and eventually the pressure told and the pack drove over for what proved to be the decisive score.
