FED up of being single and waiting for St Valentine's cards to drop on the doormat? Well spare a thought for pensioner Edna Roberts.

She is 83 and looking for love, but is determined that it is never too late to find it.

In September, the pensioner appeared in the Worcester News in her search for Mr Right, but after little success she hopes that the New Year would have given possible suitors the courage to take the plunge.

To help romance on its way, her family has placed adverts in papers, with dating agencies and in shop windows, but all to no avail.

"It would be good to meet someone because I don't like being on my own," she said.

"I'm hoping that someone will come along once this goes in the paper."

Edna, whose husband Alfred died more than 25 years ago said that she has found it difficult adjusting to the single life.

"I think once you have been married and have had someone there it makes all the difference and then you get used to that," she said.

Despite having a number of calls from possible suitors, Edna, who lives near Lowesmoor said they were from Birmingham and reluctant to travel to Worcester.

"I wondered if it was the weather putting them off," she joked.

Her ideal match would be caring, reliable, honest and aged 70 or over.

Edna suffers from arthritis so would like a man with a car.

She enjoys watching old love films, going for the occasional meal out and journeys out in the country.
