BROMESBERROW Gardening and Social Club got off to a fine start to the new year with a good attendance for interesting talk by Jim Cherry.
Jim is from Taste of the Country farm shop at Countrywide in Ledbury and also has others at Evesham and Long Compton. Countrywide were runners-up in the BBC Radio Four Best Local Food Retailers Award 2003, presented by Jamie Oliver.
Jim and his wife spent many years farming, both in this country and New Zealand, before deciding to sell through farmers' markets.
Liz Simnett told members that there would be more social events if members wished, with quizzes, visits to gardens and garden centres, perhaps a meal out or rambles or a friendly game of bowls.
Social time, with refreshments, was followed by David Myers, who answered members' topical questions.
There will be a whist drive on Thursday, February 23 while on Friday, February 24, it's bingo time, both at 8pm.
There will be bell-ringers at St Mary's, Bromesberrow from Tytherington in Gloucestershire on Wednesday, February 15 at 7.30-9pm. The Forest bell-ringers will be visiting on February 18, from 7-9pm, after ringing at Redmarley Church.
